She was aware of the weight on the bed and the brush of his lips against her forehead, but it was the sound of thunder that made her open her eyes. She blinked sleepily a moment but with a loving smile she turned around to see if he was still awake, only to find he was not there. She stared longingly at the empty space on the bed before it suddenly occurred to her.

She had no idea who she had expected to see there.

As a matter of fact, she started to sit up, realizing she didn't recognize the room she was in at all. She looked out the window into the rain. She didn't recognize the area either. Her heart started to pound and she jumped up out of the bed, thankful to find she wasn't strapped down. She reached for the phone in a panic and started to dial, what number, she wasn't entirely sure, just one that came to her fingertips naturally.

A female voice answered, "Nine-one-one emergencies, how can we help you?"

Her voice trembled as she replied, glancing out the window at the sign out front, "I- I don't know where I am," She whimpered, "I mean, I'm at The Edgewater Inn, but I don't know how I got here." She heard a noise and gasped turning around fast.

"Okay ma'am, try to stay calm, I'll send someone to go get you, what's your name? Are you in the lobby or in a room?"

Her hand was shaking, "I'm in a room, its dark I can't see what the number is."

"Can you open the door?"

She reached for the handle, and turned it, "Yes, yes I can open it."

The woman on the other side of the phone spoke again, "Can you find the lobby? Go there, I'll send someone to get you, tell me your name please."

"My… My name is…is!" She was starting to sob she was so scared, but her heart froze for a horrible moment when she realized she didn't even remember her own name.

"Ma'am? Ma'am?" She'd dropped the phone and run out into the parking lot. It was raining hard, the thunder made her scream as she ran down the road wearing nothing but her night dress in the cold. Through the ran she couldn't see much but where ever she was, there were a lot of buildings and water, not just the rain, but  water everywhere, revealing that the in was on either an island or floating

She kept running, terrified and cold now too, seeking something that looked familiar and trying to remember something that could be of comfort, only landing back at that moment before she had woken up, the weight on the bed, and the lips against her. Someone had been there, some one had cared, but who had it been, and where were they now?

She stopped when she heard the sound of sirens. The flash of red and blue provided a little comfort for her as a tall fair skinned man stepped out of the police car. She stood still and solid waiting for him to do something, "Ma'am?" He called gently, "Ma'am, did you just call from the Edgewater in?"

She sniffed and nodded as she called out weakly, "Y-Yes…" Then a little louder, "Yes that was me."

"Ma'am," He said approaching slowly, "I need you to get in the car, I'm going to take you…" He paused a moment looking her over, at the drenched nightgown and her bare feet, "To the hospital, first, to make sure you don't get pneumonia. Come on…"

She stayed where she was one more hesitant moment but the cold and rain over powered her will, and she stepped toward the dry car where she knew the heat would be on. As she climbed in the officer took off his jacket and handed it to her. It was a little wet from his time in the rain, but it was warm with his body heat, and better than just her night gown.

He stood outside for a minute speaking into a hand held radio, presumably calling the hospital to announce they were coming. She shivered terribly and curled inwardly.

"So..." He started as he took the driver's seat. "Maggie said you don't know where you are?" She nodded in response, "Please talk to me, it'll help warm you up."

"I don't know where I am." She said, "I don't know who I am, and I don't know what I'm doing here." Her teeth were chattering violently and she kept biting her lip, but her face was so numb she wouldn't notice until later.

"Ouch." The officer said, taking off his hat and running a hand through his thick brown hair. "Well, if makes you feel any better, you're in Seattle. Seattle, Washington." He pointed out the window, "Look you can see the space needle from here."

She looked in the direction his finger pointed, and indeed the rain had calmed enough that she could see the outlines of tall buildings, one stood out, marking it the 'space needle'. It did make her feel a little better to know that.

"As for who you are and what you're doing here, we've got people that can help identify you, and I'm sure you can find out what you're doing here after that. I don't know, its not really my department."

"And you?" She asked, "What's your name?"

"The man laughed, "Mills." He answered, "Officer Hector Mills." He turned back to her again, "So do you remember anything at all?" he asked trying to keep her talking.

She clutched the jacket closer to her as she relayed everything she could remember, even the part about someone possibly having been with her at some point. Officer Mills turned into the hospital, the rain had completely stopped now and they walked inside together.

Nurses and doctors rushed in and out, guiding her toward a room, were a young woman offered her a pale pink hospital gown, Mills went in with her for a moment to tell her he would be waiting in the lobby to take her down to the police station when the doctors were done making sure she wasn't going to catch anything serious, then left to let her dress.

She turned around and saw the mirror, looking at her reflection in its surface and seeing who she was for the first time. She had shoulder length black hair, which was curling as it dried, a pale completion that was starting to regain some color as her body warmed up, and bright green eyes. She was pretty, but not terribly so, perfectly average for a woman her age, which at a glance seemed to be twenty-five or so.

She dressed quickly, and looked in the mirror again, searching her own eyes for answers to questions she desperately wanted. The door opened and she turned around to be greeted by elderly woman with graying red hair and a pen with paper work. "Hello," She said kindly, "I'm doctor Kolena Williams, we're going to run a few blood and physical tests." She smiled, "Nothing too terrible, but if anything starts making you uncomfortable, tell me right away."

She nodded gratefully, the doctor beckoned her over and guided her to another room where doctors waited with various tests, the first of which was a blood test, which upon getting her blood drawn it was discovered that she, whoever she was, was afraid of blood and passed out the moment she saw it.

The next time she woke up, Kolena Williams was standing over her, with a concerned look on her face. "Hey." She said gently, "I've got some good news, and some…"

"Bad news?" She finished.

"Well," Kolena mused aloud, "I wouldn't say bad, necessarily, but it is a bit of a surprise."

Hector Mills was there too, he stood leaning against the wall, with a relieved look on his face, "The good news?" The young woman asked.

The doctor smiled, "The good news is, first of all, is that your blood work, and everything we tested while you were unconscious says you don't have anything more than a nasty cold to worry about. "She tapped her pen against her clip board, "But even better news, is that we  put your blood through a few identity scans and we managed to find a match, meaning we've got your name."

Her heart skipped a beat with joy and Mills finished up, "Does the name Simmone sound familiar to you?" He teased.

There was a flash of few memories, and she nodded, "Yes… Yes. Simmone Murdoc. That's  my name." She savored the feel of it off her lips, "Simmone Murdoc."

She was smiling, but not for long as she saw the faces of her two companions. She felt a tingle of dread at the looks and became scared for what they could mean, "That wasn't the other news was it?" She asked.

"That was the best of the good news." Dr. Williams told her, "The interesting news, coupled with what little we know of your background and what we've found out through your medical records-"

Mills cut her off, "You're pregnant Simmone."
I have an idea for a series of novels following the Adventures of Kolena Murdoc, featured here as but a fetus. The rest of this story takes place when Kolena, named after the doctor, is thirteen following her to age 18, as she discovers she is not an ordinary human being, makes new friends, faces off evil, and uncovers the truth about he father who mysteriously vanished not only out of her mother's life, but out of her memory too. I won't go into much detail here, cause you know, people steal ideas, I just wanted to get this out there to see what ya'll think.

So, how's it sound, are you guys interested in the rest of it (Cause I'm making plans for at least five books)?

Also, it might do me well to mention that the main character Kolena Murdoc shares a name with the OC I created for Battlestar Galactica ([link]) I made on my old account last year, and they both have black hair and green eyes, but that is the extent of their similarities.
